Weather Service Advisory – Major Winter Storm Affecting Research Triangle Park NC Area

Please be advised that Central North Carolina has experienced a major winter storm. As a result, hazards travel conditions and numerous power outages are being reported in the Research Triangle Park (RTP) and Morrisville, NC areas.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until noon EST today.

Hazard type: mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain. Precipitation tapering off during the morning hours.

Accumulations: snow and sleet accumulation of 4 to 8 inches, along with a tenth of an inch of ice.

Impacts: hazardous travel conditions due to snow covered roadways.

As a result of power outages and hazardous travel conditions, service interruptions and/or delays may occur. The OTS National Call Center is located in Morrisville; therefore, you may experience longer than normal hold times.

Patient Service Centers (PSCs)

LabCorp patient service center (PSC) closures or delays may occur in storm affected areas. It is advisable to use the Find a Lab system on www.LabCorp.com and verify operating hours by calling the telephone number listed for the PSC. The operating hours for the day will be posted on the site’s message line. Note that donors may make an appointment for a specific PSC through the Find a Lab system on www.LabCorp.com.
