Drunk Driving Deaths Increased in 2012

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released new data last month showing 10,322 drunk driving fatalities in 2012—compared to 9,865 in 2011.

CA Tow Trucking Association Endorses AADT Adding to Their Member Discount Programs

During the Western States Tow Show in San Diego, October 9-11, principally hosted by the California Tow Truck Association (CTTA), it was announced that the CTTA formally endorsed American Alliance Drug Testing’s (AADT) drug and alcohol testing program.

Larry Muzamel the new Executive Director of CTTA, is transitioning that association into a membership services-driven organization and AADT’s drug program fits into this model for his members, as well as ours. Read more

Redding Woman Indicted for Fake Drug Test Results

A Redding woman has been indicted for 25-counts of mail fraud and making false statements to a government agency over the alleged falsification of drug test results for commercial drivers, according to a statement released by the U. S. Attorney’s Eastern District of California office, August 22nd.  Read more

Return-to-Duty Process After a Failed Test

Q: What is the process when an employee fails a drug or alcohol test?

A: When an employee “fails” a drug or alcohol test, the result is called “positive.” Positive means that there was a prohibited amount of drug or alcohol detected or it may be that the donor adulterated or substituted the specimen. A failed test may also be if a donor failed to appear for a test, left the collection site prior to completion of the collection process, was uncooperative with the requirements during the collection process, or failed to provide enough urine without an adequate medical explanation. In all such cases, the individual will be made inactive in AADT’s random testing pools. Read more

Deception Alert! Beware: Company Called “DOT Compliance Group” Texting Commercial Drivers

We have received several inquiries from our clients regarding text messages and emails which they believed were sent by AADT — but weren’t.

Unfortunately most could not explain exactly what they received and since we are not the NSA, we did not have access to their text or email, we could not be sure of what they had received. As we dug further into the issue we believe that some of the e-mails may have come from the DOT, but all of the texts were a fraud, or at a minimum a deception.
