Q: I’m and owner-operator and I received a random notice to do a drug and alcohol test, what do I do?

A: You should go to AADT’s website and look for a collection site nearest to you that does both drug and alcohol testing. Click on “AADT Contracted Collection Sites” button to search for the nearest location to your ZIP code. Check-mark the box next to the zip code that says “show only sites with Alcohol testing,” as not all sites do. Read more

Supreme Court Rules Against Warrantless DUI Blood Tests

In a divided ruling, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a decision on April 17 that makes suspect DUI testing (of alcohol or drugs) a little bit more challenging for law enforcement. The court held that Missouri police violated the 4th Amendment by obtaining a warrantless and nonconsensual blood sample from a man suspected of drunk driving.

At issue in Missouri v. McNeely was the question of whether or not the rapid diminishment of alcohol in a suspect’s bloodstream should entitle the police to enjoy a blanket emergency exception to the 4th Amendment when it comes to seeking blood tests in drunk-driving cases. Read more

AADT Updates Industry Concerning Central Drug Test Results Clearinghouse

February 26, 2013
RE: An Open Letter to Our Valued Collection Sites
Dear Collection Site Managers and Labs:
American Alliance Drug Testing (AADT) recently sent out a notice to all our contracted collection site partners addressing the concerns and costs associated with errors created during the collection process. As stated in that letter, we no longer have the luxury to accept these collection errors and it is especially difficult to correct errors as a cost of doing business and we must share these costs with those responsible. Interestingly, we received a wide range of responses to our position. Frankly, 95% of the responses were positive as businesses within our industry appear to understand the need for personal responsibility. Make no mistake; our concerns are not just about the direct cost of errors, but the serious liability errors in the future can create for us all with the coming national clearinghouse for controlled substance and alcohol test results of commercial vehicle operators.
